• Q. Tell us about yourself and how you came to be an artist…

  • A. I think my becoming an artist has been very careful and gradual. I don’t have any formal art training behind me, and although I saw that as an advantage because I didn’t have any rules to follow or mistakes to avoid, it was difficult to really embrace it. But now I understand that my practice exists precisely because of this.

  • Q. Your main character trait?

  • A. Thoughtful, maybe.

  • Q. Describe your work in three words…

  • A. Technique, colors, dreams.

  • Q. What is your creative process?

  • A. I usually think about my works in series, not single pieces. My works have a lot to do with nostalgia, dreams, the ways we perceive humans. I want my works to have a little bit of a fairytale feel, which comes back to the nostalgia part! Another big factor when you’re creating artworks that are demanding in the way these tapestries are is planning. A lot of the excitement comes from planning how to execute certain things, calculating what is doable and in what extent, choosing the materials, etc.

In a way, every piece is a surprise. One reason for that is that I work from the back side of the canvas, and I can’t always predict how the wool is going to behave. I have learnt to enjoy that!

  • Q. Are you experiencing any blocks in your practice right now ?

  • A. No blocks, just challenges.

  • Q. Have you always focused your attention on the body?

  • A. Yes

  • Q. Who are some contemporaries or figures in art history who have influenced you?

  • A. I’m really interested in and following contemporary artists, I get a lot of inspiration from them, I feel like their worldview aligns with mine at this stage of my career.

  • Q. What makes you laugh?

  • A. Lots of things, mainly my dog.

  • Q. Your dream of happiness?

  • A. I’m already happy, but always dreaming of nature, peace of mind, pretty things!

  • Q. What makes you excited about the future?

  • A. Upcoming projects, possible outcomes, travel ideas.

  • Q. Current state of mind ?

  • A. Excited and impatient!

  • Q. Are you experiencing any blocks in you practice right now ?

  • A. Strangely it’s flowing quite well right now, but experiencing blocks is just another part of the
creating process, is absolutely necessary, its uncomfortable but is what shows you the path. In fact
everything is going so smoothly right now at the studio, I have to enjoy it because as soon as I start
getting too comfortable and repeating myself I know I need to change direction.
